Walter Harold Elkins, Sr., 73, passed away on Monday, July 17, 2017 at his home in Zachary, LA. He was a longtime Union Member of Pipeline Construction Workers of Louisiana Local #692 and Business Manager until retirement with over 50 years of being proud to serve the union. He was a Board Member with the Southeast Laborer's District Council, the Southwest Laborer's District Council, the Midwest Region, and with the Louisiana Laborer's Health and Welfare. Visitation will be held at Seale Funeral Home, 9995 Hooper Road, Central, LA on Friday, July 21, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and will resume on Saturday, July 22, from 9 a.m. until service at 11 a.m., officiated by Bro. Carl Lanclos. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Baker, LA. Pallbearers will be the Executive Board of Local Union #692, Scotty Odom, Ellis Quave, Byron Lewis, Rayford Welch, Steve Lovett, Donald Dyer, and Michael Cudo. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Elkins; two daughters, Barbara Moore, and Tammy Doyal, and husband, Derrel; two sons, Dewayne Elkins and wife, Tina, and Harold Elkins; two sisters, Rose Rankin and Jessie Lee Elkins; two brothers, Jimmy Elkins and wife, Debbie, and Leroy McDaniels and wife, Elaine. Grandchildren, Ashley Elkins, Stephanie and Billie Joe Monk, Adrianne Elkins, Lacy Elkins, Dewayne Elkins, Jr.; 13 great-grandchildren; niece, Phyllis Kirkland, brother-in-law, James Ainsworth and wife DeDe, his favorite cousin, Becky Pinkerton; his longtime friend he called "his Girl from Washington DC", Tracey Barrick; and his four legged pets, Bear, Sassie, Pretty Boy, Bud, Baby Girl, Baby Boy, George, Rocky, Abie Gail, and Brutus. He was preceded in death by his son, Lil' Harold Elkins, Jr.; brothers, Tommy Cloud and Jerry Elkins; mother, Lena West Elkins; father, Alonzo Elkins; niece, Carissa Higginbotham.
